Boudoir Session: Tamara

A woman poses for her Annapolis boudoir session

Tamara came to our new Annapolis photography studio to celebrate her journey to health and happiness after a difficult divorce. Whenever I hear someone’s gotten a divorce, the first thing I tell them is “congratulations!” Yes, divorce is the pits. It can be traumatic and it’s painful…the first year for many is nothing short of bleak, with memories and the logistics of a broken relationship making healing a struggle. So why do I say “congratulations?” Because I don’t know a single divorced person (myself included) who got divorced on a whim. For most of us, arriving at the decision to divorce comes after soul-searching, seeking counseling, trying and trying…and trying again. Choosing to do life on your own after having a partner is not only brave, but it’s extremely empowering. It’s not easier, but it’s usually a choice that brings much-needed peace.

Tamara’s boudoir makeup was done by Jeet Bahra of Glam By Jeet. She opted for a more “natural glam” look. Honestly, she didn’t need much hair and makeup. Her natural beauty was only enhanced for her photo shoot. (All of us in the studio were jealous of her perfect skin!)

Tamara’s first lingerie look was a strappy piece from SHEIN. I literally squeed when I saw the looks she was giving my camera. Eye contact isn’t easy for everyone–I coach you through it, but the best way to achieve a sultry look is by relaxing & getting out of your own head. (Don’t try to look sultry. BE sultry.)

I knew we had to bring out the angel wings. These are available in black or in pink for your shoot. Tamara is also wearing gold strappy heels from our client closet.

I LOVE photographing colorful lingerie! I usually tell my boudoir clients to bring jewel-toned pieces, because those look good on everyone, but most people bring a lot of black. I love getting a pop of color! The Severna Park boudoir studio has a set devoted to all things bohemian. I love the natural light in here! Tamara got this outfit from Victoria’s Secret. Strappy lingerie is my absolute favorite.

Stella, the blue couch, is one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the boudoir studio. She photographs SO well. I like to pair blue or purple lingerie with the blue velvet of the couch. Tamara got this outfit from SHEIN. Purple neon lights add a modern touch to her gallery.

I finished up Tamara’s boudoir session in the “red room.” The red satin sheets pair perfectly with the black bodysuit. By the end of your session, you won’t want it to end; even if you arrive terrified, I promise…it’s fun and addictive! Thank you, Tamara, for letting me share your gorgeous boudoir images. And…congratulations!
